Information You Submit
Names, phone numbers, and addresses entered in search boxes are sent to the outside provider that supplies those results; this site does not retain a copy of those searches. A message sent to us contains the information you choose to include, which we use to respond.
Basic Technical Logs
Our hosting provider records routine server details such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time stamps. We review traffic in aggregate to maintain the pages and understand overall use. Cookies or related tools may be used for basic analytics or advertising measurement where those services apply.
How Information Is Used
Information helps us run the reference, diagnose faults, measure site traffic, and improve its pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Portals and Services
Links lead to West Virginia state and county record systems, libraries, archives, and outside search providers. Each destination has its own privacy terms, which apply to information you enter there. Sponsored results are supplied by an outside company and follow that provider's practices.
Service Providers and Required Disclosures
Companies that host or support the pages may handle the server logs described above. Analytics or advertising partners may receive some automatic usage data. We disclose information when valid legal process requires it.
Safeguards and Retention
Pages use an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described in this policy. There are no visitor accounts, passwords, or personal profiles stored here.
Visitors Under 18
These pages are intended for adults and are not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor sent information, and we will review and remove information we hold.
Requests About Your Information
Ask us to locate, correct, or delete information held in our contact mailbox or operational logs by using the Contact page. The West Virginia Freedom of Information Act, W. Va. Code ยง29B-1-1 et seq., concerns records held by public bodies; it does not provide a general deletion process for data held by private websites. For a correction or redaction request about a public-office record, contact the office that maintains it.
Changes to This Policy
We will post a revised policy here when its terms change. Continued use after the revision takes effect indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
